ARV Awards Dinner - June 8th 2010 - New York City

Below are some pictures I took at the ARV Awards dinner, with notes and comments from me,
just to set the mood and give explanations where necessary.

The Bar - getting fuller.
The Bar - getting fuller. John Beffel with me, looking oh so hansome that I suspect John Azua and David Terlik are seething with rage and jealousy! (Picture courtesy of Jane Giles, Cambey and West/NTCFI.)
Elaine Tyson, President and Barry Green, another President.
Bob Werner, President of ICN thinking to himself "please take that picture so I can have a drink!"
Barry Green, current president of the NTCFI, looking pretty dapper if we may say so. And it's our web site, so we can - AND WE DO!
John Azua, David Terlik and Lou Loglisci. Even though the "thing on a stick" seems to have David worried, we are reliably informed the food was consumed with no adverse effects.
BPA past and present.
Jane Giles of Cambey and West taking a picture of Roy Beagley taking a picture of Jane Giles of Cambey and West taking a picture of Roy Beagley taking a picture of... you get the picture!
Elaine still cannot resist trying to slap the you know what out of Karlene Lukovitz.
Jim Fischer.
Mike Oberman and Gloria Adams both looking fine, trim, dapper and fettles firmly flattering. (it's an English thing.)
Diza Burnett looking great with David Werner and Karen Tyson over Diza's right shoulder, and Karly Becker over her left.
Karly Becker informing Bob Werner that if he says that just once more, she is going to stick "this finger in your ear!"
If ever a man looks good, it is always Lou Loglisci.
One of our favorite photographs of the evening, Jo Ann Binz and Therese Langer.
Paula Collins.
Can you believe this? Elaine Tyson and Jim Kuchinsky have been in this industry since printing plates were made using a hammer and a chisel - and this is the FIRST time they have ever met.
Jeff Stamford of Hartford, or Jeff Hartford of somewhere in Connecticut - who knows? Who Cares! It's Jeff!
Paula Collins, Karly Becker, Lou Loglisci, Therese Langer and Bob Werner prove it is quite possible to have friends in this industry - and good friends too. (That's Elaine between Karly and Lou, just in case you did not know.)
Elaine Tyson, President of Tyson Associates, sister of Karen, wife of Roy, sitting in front of a sign that says 'Tyson Reseved' - yea, as if!
Sammy Garrett trying to avoid having her photograph taken... and frankly, failed - but Sammy - you look great.
The other person being honored on the night Gordon Hughes, such a gentlemen and a good speaker - and a good sport too.
Barry Green, Gloria Adams and Glenn Hansen shaking hands on forming the "Publishing 'G'" club - you can only be a member if there is a "G" in your name. Hey, that means, I'M IN TOO!!!!!!!!
Why does this picture remind me of the movie "The Godfather"? John Papalia making sure there is no prospect of the odd horse's head in his office - which is just down the road from Tyson Associates's office by paying due homage to the Godmother.
Trey Cowhig trying to convince Gail Stone that he, is in fact Roy Beagley. Trey, you DON'T HAVE THE ACCENT!
John Beffel looking very trim if we may say so and David Werner making sure that Karen Tyson, Vice President of Tyson Associates cannot escape!
Gail Stone and Elaine Tyson: how long have these two been friends now? Will it last? Tune in tomorrow, same time, same channel to find out!
Elaine Tyson, Karen Tyson and Roy Beagley, the associates that are Tyson. Thanks to David Werner for taking this picture
John Beffel looking so darn good, we may have to kill him!
And another man who looks pretty darn good too, Hugh Dowling, treasurer of the NTCFI, apparently money is tight and he is only allowed to eat a roll and butter.
Paula Collins and Karly Becker. Karly is looking worried... the next picture may be the reason.
Bob Werner and Therese Langer and it looks very much as if Bob is preparing to punch Therese's lights out, which is why Karly is looking so concerned in the previous photo. Naturally Therese laid Bob flat out, but in a very classy way as you would expect from someone as lovely as Therese.
Jim Fischer and Sammy Garrett demanding more food just like Oliver Twist - but Ollie's plates were empty guys.
Glenn Hansen and Bob Werner looking very serious - well it is a business affair after all
Jo Ann Binz - OK - a question: has anybody ever seen Jo Ann without a smile on her face? No, nor us.
Barry Green presenting the award to Elaine, a splendid job Barry. (Picture courtesy of Jane Giles, Cambey and West/NTCFI.)
Barry doing something to Elaine which she seems to like... er move on please!
Elaine may be the only person ever to mention a dick strip in an acceptance speech - if you were not there, you will never know. Her speech was very warmly received and for $500,000 not pounds, Elaine wants you to know, she can "open doors" for you.
All in all, we think it was a good speech, lots of laughs, thanks where due and when the audience gives you a standing ovation at the end, I think you will agree, Elaine is a worthy winner of this year's ARV award.
